What's All the Fuss?

Description

Okay so really this is such a major spoiler to my story I really shouldn't even put it up. But as I don't know when I will ever finish it I figured I might as well not keep you people in suspense forever.

This picture comes shortly after this one: [link]

Moments after the above linked picture Felix began to pixelize and after flickering briefly completely disappeared. Calhoun's devistation quickly turned to anger and whipping out her gun she stomped off to find Fix-It 2.0, swearing he would pay for what he had done. Ralph and Vanellope followed. But they didn't get far when a familiar series of notes sounded in the air. They could barely believe their ears when an enthusiastic: "I can fix it!" came from behind.

The three whirled around. To their disbelief they found Felix as good as new, hat and hammer returned, and looking a little bewildered. They all hurried back to him, but, glitching forward Vanellope reached him first. With a frantic leap she throws her arms around him. "I can't believe it!"

"Hey there, Little Missy." He said, unaccustomed to this kind of affection from the little racer. "What's all the fuss?"

The words came bursting out of her mouth. "Great grape gumdrops! You're ALIVE!"

He let out a small gasp as he was snatched up and out of the little girl's grasp and pulled into a fond kiss. It was a long moment before he had to come up for air. "Jimminy jamminy, Darlin'." He gasped, his cheeks glowing the color of red licorice. "In front of...of..." He motioned to Vanellope who was making gagging noises at the mushy stuff she had just witnessed.

Calhoun looked just a little embarassed as she set her husband back onto the street.

After a few moments of pats on the back and 'we're so happy you're back' Ralph spoke the question that was truely on everyone's mind. "How is he here. I mean...I thought you couldn't regenerate if you died out of your game." He directed the question to Calhoun as she knew more about coding than any of them.

"That's just it. It IS his game. It may be newer and fancier but it's still 'Fix-It Felix jr.' and the program must have recognized his code as belonging here."

On a little different note. There was a story, and I can't remember the name of it, but it had Felix and Calhoun kind of unofficially adopting Vanellope. They'd come and watch her after hours races, scold her when she wanted to do something reckless and generally be kind of parental. I thought that was a very cute idea. And I think I'm going to go in that direction a bit for this story.

When Mr. Litwack announces that he is getting a brand new 1213 versian of Fix-It-Felix jr. Felix is beside himself. He just can't wait to meet the new characters he considers 'kin'.
But despite the arcade owner's overheard promise to keep the 'retro' game as well, many of the other Nicelanders are concerned about being shown up.

And the new game is indeed impressive. Niceland is no longer one apartment building. It's an entire city with slums, suburbs, a business district and even a bridge. And detail is everywhere, from random trash on the street to the seams on characters clothes.

Many more characters are involved as well. A second player has been added for the female gamers, a sister to Felix named 'Construction-Kate'. And Felix's father has been added as a non-playable character who can give information and new tools to the player. Ralph, too, has been given a family. Much like Bowser's kids in Mario, Ralph's wife and kids do his bidding in wrecking the city.

But it isn't a hunky dory, happy-go-lucky world like the Ralph and Felix we know have created. After the arcade closes Felix 2013 is no longer the good guy who's only out to help people. He is very much the boss of his game and with his sister by his side keeps tabs on the whole city.

Of course, our quartet of a welcome party doesn't know this when they show up at the new game with friendly greetings.

Felix is shocked to see his dad, a man he has never really seen but is programmed to miss dearly. His backstory has always told him that his father gave him his hammer on his deathbed. So to see him now...even a new versian of him get's the handyman a little choked up. The old man is quite happy to invite him into the family, as his other boy hasn't exactly lived up to the moral code set out for him.

The new Felix doesn't take this well. For one thing he simply can't stand that there is an 'outdated' and clearly inferior versian of himself. And what makes it worse HIS father seems to like him. And that hammer! In the new game the golden hammer is the prize for winning the game and is locked up in the game's code and is only released if someone wins. That this old, dinosaur of a character that has the audacity to impersonate him just carries that hammer around drives him nuts.

So. Why not kill two birds with one stone? He reasons. Get rid of that embarassment of a game AND get that hammer at the same time.

Ralph and Sgt. Calhoun get a bit suspicious early on. But Felix just can't believe that his new 'family' could possibly do him harm.

He was wrong.

Very appropriate that Classic Felix regenerates in the new game. Modern Felix will be in for a shock when Classic Felix and his friends confront him.
