Captain Clancey

I have recently discovered a extremely fun show!  Here Come the Brides (a title I never would have watched if my BFF hadn't shown it to me) is set in 1800's Seattle, which is little more than a frontier town.  The lumberjacks are bummed because the only gals in town are either married, the mousy school teacher or the owner of the saloon, who's a pretty confirmed batchlerette.  The owner of the local mountain and all it's lumber decides to raise the moral of his workers by going down south to the big city (which the war has left virtually man-less) and finding a hundred girls who are willing to come to Seattle where there are potential husbands galore.  

Now it sounds kind of mushy, all about love and marriage.  But really, it's a fun, family show with lovable characters and interesting storylines.  Besides four actors from TOS Star Trek are in it  But my favorite character by far is Captain Clancey.  He's the owner of the ship that brings supplies to little Seattle.  He is your typical old salt with a big, loud, Irish personality and a constant smile.  His biggest qualm is people calling his rig a 'boat', to which he always shouts: "Ship, darlin'! She's a "SHIP"!"
